Ganesha a Demi-God?

I do not know if Ganesha is a Demi-God.  I know at the local Sat sangh in my
area (Fall's Church, VA Sat Sangh) Ganesha has appeared to some folks there.
 I work for child protective services--and am a new hire.  I took a statue of
Ganesha to place on my  desk at work--and whils sitting there looking at
it--it dawned on me that he was an abused child.  What a proper setting.
