Syclus of 13 reincarnations?
Hindu Universe Interactive: General Discussion: Syclus of 13 reincarnations?

As a student, I'm writing about hinduism as a religion project. As I visited Nepal this autumn, I was told that a Hindu, with normal, good behaviour, would be reborn into a new syclus of 13 or 14 animals, before being incarnated as a human being. When a man died, he would, after 13 days, be reborn as a dog (1st incarnation), then other animals, cow (8th incarnation?), monkey (13th) then human being. Is this correct? Or is this a big misunderstanding? I would be very thankful for answers. Sincerely, Andre Storhagen, Norway wigwam@online.no

There is no such statement in any authoritative scriptures of Hinduism. The belief might be just a local Nepali belief. Best wishes Vishal

It is a "big misunderstanding" of Hindu Dharma and its scriptures. Since rebirth is determined by one's accumulated actions (Karma)prior to rebirth, there is no way to predetermine all the next births of a person.
