Hindu Universe Interactive: General Discussion: WHO IS RAM GIDOOMAL ??????

Ram Gidoomal is a prominent Indian businessman, who emigrated from Kenya in the late sixties to become a self-made millionaire in the U.K. He’s often seen in the media as a spokesperson for the Indian community, especially regarding Indian businesses and cultural life. He is also an author of several books concerning the life experiences of the Indian community and the problems they have had encountered attempting to settle into an alien society. He also raises fund for his charity called ‘Christmas Cracker, which helps to support poor people in the slums of India. Presently he is running for the position of the mayor of London, and in this he has the backing of a sizeable section of Indian community. That is the image Ram Gidoomal likes to portray to the Indian community but the truth of the matter, is that Ram Gidoomal is really a leading Christian evangelist who is attempting to fool the Hindu community into becoming Christians. He runs an organisation called the South Asian Concern, which is part of the EMA (Evangelical Missionary Alliance) and backs Christian missionaries here and in India to convert gullible and vulnerable Hindus. He is also a member of the Christian People’s Alliance, which is a wing of the Christian Democratic party and is dominant in many European countries. These are the sort of people who use their political power to arm-twist the Indian government to put a blind eye towards Christian missionary activities when it is so required. The three books which he has written so far by the names of ‘Sari and Chips’, ‘Karma and Chips’ and ‘Chapatti for Tea’ dwell on the issues of Indian immigrants settling in the UK and the problems of the first generation children born and raised in the UK. For example in Ram Gidomaal’s book ‘Sari and chips’ the chapter starts with his own personal experiences as a young man arriving from Kenya at Heathrow airport and who had problems fitting into British society and ended up becoming a rejected ‘Brown Englishman’. The book continues with the problems Indians face like racism, identity problems, arranged marriages, family conflicts, health problems, drugs, etc. He uses personal accounts from people’s experiences. If a vulnerable Hindu reads his books he would somehow start to relate to some of these problems. Then in the end the book as you probably have guessed by now, the solution for the problems lies in CHRISIANITY! He gives a brief distorted view of Hinduism in the book claiming the Bhagvad –Gita, was influenced by the Christ’s teaching. And he even dares to claims that Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of the Vedic and yogic traditions, the Sanatana-Satguru, the ultimate Bhakti deity and the true-avatar. There is a warning to the west in the end of the book that films like Star-wars, Star-trek and the masters of the Universe (all types of sci-fi) has a very strong Hindu base and soft-porn movies have their roots in Indian philosophy. He even compares the character played by Sharon stone in the soft-porn movie ‘Basic Instinct’ is like that of the Hindu goddess ‘kali’. In the closing chapter he quotes ‘Christ is the Boddhisattva who faithfully fulfilled his Dharma, and whose merit in dying as the perfect self-sacrifice can fulfil our own karma, and allow our atman to return to Brahman, resulting in full and complete moksha.’ His organisation South Asian Concern also has a division, which is called ‘Satya Bhavan’ meaning the ‘ house of truth’ This division deals with training, research and outreach to Indians in the UK and India. (Basically how to fool Hindus to become Christians) The training consists of motivating and equipping individuals, churches and groups to spread Christian beliefs in a Hindu package to their neighbours, so it looks Hindu from the outside but is Christian in the inside. ‘Satya Bhavan’ also helps in providing resources for training of church planters and professionals in North India. In their Hindu decorated brochure they state that their main focus is the North Indian region where they twenty five years ago set up the ‘Emmanuel Hospital Association’ which serves 7 million people. The EMA runs 22 community health development programmes backed by 17 hospitals with over 65 doctors, 250 trained nurses, 3 nursing schools and 750 other staff. This is the region where they are trying to mobilise and train 50,000 grass root church planters. This evangelistic dream is known as ‘PREM’. Meaning ‘love’ in Hindi. Prayer for the people of the region, including identifying spiritual strongholds and training intercessors for evangelism and sustained intercession Research on the harvest field and harvest force to identify unreached places and people groups. Equipping local leaders from unreached areas to plant churches in their own communities through practical training and resourcing. Mobilising believers to work together at every level, from local congregations to state networks, for saturation church planting, i.e., making churches more accessible to all people. We visit churches in the region to encourage this. Two of the people who head the operations in North India are Pradip Ayer of Om India who with Raju Abraham of the EHA are desperately trying to convert the whole of North India to ‘Christ-insanity’. To be fair, everyone is allowed to dream, even a good-for-nothing Christian missionary. Satya Bhavan also runs many modules and courses where after a ‘Hindu’ has converted he is then trained in all the techniques on how to spread Christianity in a Hindu context among Hindus in Britain and especially in India. There are also courses for non-Indian Christians explaining the techniques for luring Hindus.. Ram Gidoomal and his failed Brown Englishmen and women flock to meetings in churches across the UK especially in Indian dominated areas. They often dress up in traditional Indian clothes like sari and Kurta –pyjamas and sing Bhajans in Hindi glorifying Jesus Christ. Music is one of the most important ways they are trying to reach out to the Hindu community. They have specially composed CD’s which are composed in the style of Hindu Bhakti devotional music and in their recent newsletter they were asking for people’s help in composing Christian bhajans. (They have a Wednesday morning slot on the Indian cable channel ‘Zee TV). In Gidoomals other book, ‘Chapatis for tea’ which is “a practical guide for the western missionary on how to infiltrate into Hindu families and subsequently cheapen their Hindu heritage. 1. For example “on how to make contact” try to shop at a Hindu-owned shop and slowly try to get to know the shopkeeper and his family. 2. “When you get on a bus look for a empty seat next to an Indian and make an attempt to be friendly”. 3. Ask a Hindu neighbour how to say good morning and good afternoon in the appropriate Indian language. 4. If invited to their home you should not refuse their food, then this gives you a chance to invite them around to your place. If they suggest to you to watch an Indian movie, do accept. (Even if that means suffering 3 hours of Bollywood ). One way to get Hindu friends to visit you, is to hire out an Indian film when they visit you. A golden oldie would be in particular appreciated. After you have established a good relationship, you might get a chance to show the movie “Jesus” which is available in Hindi. 5. Hindus love music so if you know any young Indian Christians get them together to hold an evening of bhangra dancing and the best day would preferably be diwali to create a perfect atmosphere for enticing your Hindu victims. (What a joke !!!). As the book goes on it gives a brief distorted understanding of Hindu customs and festivals. It even suggests you to go to a Hindu temple with your Hindu victims. But it warns that before entering a Hindu temple make sure a fellow Christian is praying for you for your protection in because there are many evil spirits hanging around the idols of the gods. Remember share Christ but not Christianity. Let a Hindu become a “follower of Christ” rather than “a Christian”. It’s all the same to us but a less threatening concept to a Hindu. With an another missionary ‘Steve Chalke’, Gidoomal set up a project called ‘Christmas Cracker’ which every year coming up to Christmas raises millions in charity for the poor in Mumbai. (In simple terms ‘bribing’ the poor to Christianity.) Ram Gidoomal’s latest plan is to become the Mayor of London. He has had a lot of positive coverage in UK based Indian newspapers and magazines. He doesn’t have a chance of winning but that does not seem to be a major priority since he is basically making an attempt to position himself as a leader of the Indian community, so then he could use his influence to convert Hindus. I personally thought it was important to highlight this man’s true objectives to Hindu’s all over the world so that they know what these devilish Christians are upto again here and in India. Like some of the Roman Catholic missionaries in India who sit around inside their Catholic ashrams disguised as Hindu gurus, South Asian Concern use Hindu symbols, music and philosophy to attract Hindu’s to the Christianity. Unfortunately they are slowly making inroads into the Hindu community in the UK. FROM, Arjun

You do not have to convert many Hindus to Christianity. From a philosophy point of view most "Bhaktas" in India are closer to Christianity than to Vedic truths. The only difference is that the "Bhaktas" do not use the word "Christ." They also do not submit to any Christian organizations. So the difference between "Bhaktas" and Christians is one of organization. I know this post is going to upset quite a few out there. But look at it carefully.

the conversion of hindus is rife here.. particularly in the indian townships where the popular unscriptural practise of religion usually has people believing that the god that can cure your illness, or help you get a job, or save your family from an evil spirit or some other disaster - is the true god (christ, the messiah - halleluja)... to wipe out the weed, wrench into the soil that bore it and rip out the root - avidya and false expectations from religion... i agree that this gidoomal character sounds really suspicious and when a wolf is disguised as his victims it is hardest to get rid of him... awareness of new missionary tactics must be made public knowledge, so that countermeasures can be made...

Namaste Ashegun, I'm suprised that Indians here in the UK are not even aware of this man's true intentions. He's been active for many years. I got know about him by a missionary on the street who had approached me .He then invited me for a coffee and some cake at the church. As I had some spare time on hand and I was feeling hungry I thought I might as well go and really find out what these Christians are up to (because I do believe one should always spy on the opposition ). He handed me a newspaper called "Yeh Accha Hai",(meaning this is good) and on the front page it had Ram Gidoomal explaning why he converted to Christianity. It also had accounts given by other Hindus and Sikhs converted to Christianity. After I had eaten all their food I thought now it is time to destroy their hopeless views . The Indian pastor who was present got the vibes that there was absolutely no chance of this Hindu converting into his creed . So he quickly left ,leaving behind the poor English missionary to my mercy. So after giving up, the poor guy said to me, "uptill today no other Hindu had shaken his faith" For me there was nothing to feel proud of ,but instead I felt ashamed because I thought how many Hindus, young and old these missionary's must talk to everyday who can't give them no proper answers to what Hinduism is really about ,and that was about 5 years ago.Now you can imagine how many Hindus and Sikhs must have had been converted by people like Ram Gidoomal and co.And still people like him are not questioned but instead are being promoted as role models for the Indian community. from Arjun.

it is good there are hindus out there so strong in faith that they can shake the foundations of the converting hordes... we can only rest when every hindu is capable of answering the taunts and tactics of these blood-sucking leeches, and once and for all isolate and delete them from public consciousness... the common method here in s.a. is that a preacher and/or his good wife will invite themselves to the home of a family in distress (financial problems/ sickness/ parent-child issues/ couples in need of counselling), and use their misfortune as a perfect launch pad to preach their evangelical message and save the heathens... only recently after mass conversions by a black nigerian pastor in the indian suburb of phoenix, did the hindu maha sabha raise an eyebrow and appoint a (now-quiet) task team to tackle the thorny issue and strengthen hindu pride.. i feel decisive action needs to be taken upon first notice of missionary activity before it matures and a situation like the one of sri gidoomal presents itself in full force... ashegAn
