Hindu Universe Interactive: General Discussion: LET'S START MAKING THE "HINDU HOLOCAUST MUSEUM"

As far as I know, no one as yet, has set up an official fund for the museum. If there is not one, then one should be set up immediately by some Hindu organisation. With about twenty million non-resident Indians living abroad,I'm very sure that they must have some spare cash lying around. For a start it would be very helpful if a "Hindu Holocaust website"(including the 1947 Partition) could be set up ,because this will only make people aware of this tragedy that has been "conveniently" forgotten and will also help encourage funds to the project. For some good ideas try http://www.vhf.org/ from Arjun.

Sri Arjun: I am in complete agreement with you about bringing the facts of the "Hindu Holocaust" to light and put them in society's consciousness to the same degree that the Jewish Holocaust is now. Of course in today's world a good website is certainly required, as well as being the best place to start. Since I am, by profession, a web designer, I will take it upon myself to create one. I only ask my respected friends on this forum to contribute toward the content in the form of articles and links. I also feel that the likely accusations by some of "hindu racism" or "communalism" may be offset by the fact that while I am a hindu, racially I am scots-irish and rom (gypsy) and not an indian. Please send any ideas or contributions to Shivadass@yahoo.com aum namah sivaya!

Namaste, This is an idea which has been bandied about on cyberspace for a good few years now; unfortunately, as yet, nothing much concrete seems to have materialised. For a sample of what little has been done on the Web so far, please visit http://www.mantra.com/holocaust and also http://www.geocities.com/hindu-rashtra/holocaust As regards actual fund-collection, and setting up an actual museum, etc. is concerned, as I recall, the Sangh Parivaar had at some point at least been considering this (wasn't there some fuss recently over an attempt by VHP (Bharat) to stage some kind of exhibition-cum-museum-show by the name of the 'Hindu Holocaust Museum' in Delhi?). Also, I believe the VHP here in UK has made some exhibition posters, etc. with some very basic introductory information on them (the exhibition collection these posters come from is actually specifically a commemoration of the founding of the Khalsa; however, some of the exhibits would be quite useful in a Hindu Holocaust Museum-type project). Totally off the top of my head, perhaps one of the reasons nothing much seems to have happened so far may be that Hindu activists (or Hindutvawaadis, or whatever other term one prefers!) have been trying, on the whole, to be all things to all men; maybe individual sub-groups specialising in specific areas may yield greater results (e.g. lobbying, research, charity, religious/community work, etc.) - just a suggestion. Along the same lines, perhaps it would be useful for a separate group/organisation to be set up specifically for the purpose of leading a Hindu Holocaust Museum project. Two years ago, I too had thought of doing this, but abandoned the effort after I saw that others could do a very good job too. I had planned on dividing the website into four sections: 1. Chronological listing of atrocities on Hindus 2. Geographical listing 3. The Hall of Shame to list the biggest tormentors of Hindus 4. Hall of Fame to discuss the heroes of Hinduism But anyway, I got familiarized myself with a vast literature specifically on the atrocities committed by Islam all over South Asia. If I had time, I could go back and pick out 100's of specific instances from the last century alone (like the Islam bibi case of Bannu close to Peshawar, or the descecration of the Narasimha temple in Multan 125 years ago and so on). I could direct you to literature relevant on this topic. Let us talk on this off-line.

Arjun We are going ahead with the Museum. I have laid the foundation by securing a private web server to host the site, and by creating an empty website with the proper atmosphere and graphic look. The job at hand now is collecting and posting the content, information and statistics. Any contributions (articles, statistics and graphics) would be most welcomed. Please send any submissions to Shivadass@yahoo.com. Thank you.
