Dear Hindus,

I would really appreciate if any hindu readers could do some actions regarding a mistake in a report titled “India asks Pakistan to either deport or punish hijackers” published by AFP (Agence France-Presse) on Friday, January 7 10:53 PM SGT on internet.

http://sg.dailynews.yahoo.com/headlines/asia/article.html?s=singapore/headlines/000107/asia/afp/India_asks_Pakistan_to_either_deport_or_punish_hijackers.html

The mistake is, in the given report (Indian Airlines Hijacking) -one of the hijackers name is given as Rajesh Gopal Verma. (A Hindu name instead of all Islamic militants)

Internet is a media, which will be viewed by people all over the world. The adverse Impact an articles like this, can cause to the Hindu community or country (India) is beyond explanation.

I think they need to amend this report as soon as possible. With out verifying facts they shouldn’t publish a sensitive topic like this. It really damage the image of that organisation and the confidence people have for their news.

I would really appreciate If any individual could please do something regarding this report, to heighten the image of our community.

Jai Hind!

Regards
Hindu Indian

India asks Pakistan to either deport or punish hijackers
NEW DELHI, Jan 7 (AFP) -
India on Friday asked Pakistan to either prosecute or extradite five men who hijacked an Indian Airlines plane as New Delhi sought to make its terrorist charges against Islamabad stick.
A foreign ministry spokesman here said the "onus" was on Islamabad either to send the men, identified by India as Pakistanis, back here for trial or charge them at home, adding Pakistan was a signatory to a number of international conventions on hijacking.
When asked if any country had questioned India's allegations of Pakistani involvement in the December 24-31 hijacking, he said: "We have had no feedback from anywhere which questions the veracity of what we have stated."
Meanwhile, the faces of five Pakistanis identified by India as the hijackers of Indian Airlines Flight IC814 stared from the front pages of every newspaper here Friday.
The photographs and names of the five men -- Ibrahim Akhtar, Shahid Akhtar Sayeed, Sunni Ahmed Qazi, Mistri Zahoor Ibrahim and Rajesh Gopal Verma -- were released Thursday as evidence of Pakistan's "neck deep" involvement in the hijacking.
Following the eight-day drama, which ended after India agreed to release three jailed Muslim militants in exchange for 160 passengers and crew, India urged the international community -- particularly the United States -- to declare Pakistan a terrorist state.
While Washington has offered no official recognition of Pakistani involvement in the hijacking, it issued a stern warning to Islamabad on Thursday, after one of the freed Muslim militants made a threatening speech in the Pakistani port city of Karachi.
"We find it deplorable and unacceptable," State Department spokesman James Rubin said of the speech given in Karachi by Maulana Masood Azhar, in which he threatened Indians and Americans and vowed to continue the Muslim separatist fight in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Masood Azhar's "reported remarks about destroying America and India ... feeds a climate of hostility against both countries and incites violence," Rubin said, adding Washington would hold Islamabad responsible should the militant's activities threaten US interests.
"Pakistan must assure the safety of Americans, Indians and all foreigners in Pakistan," he said.
Masood Azhar, a Pakistani Islamic cleric, topped the hijackers' list of militants to be released from Indian jails.
In his speech in Karachi, Azhar called on people to "marry for jihad (holy war), give birth for jihad and earn money only for jihad till the cruelty of America and India ends. But India first."
After Indian Home Minister L.K. Advani released the names and photos of the alleged hijackers -- which he said had been provided by four arrested accomplices -- Pakistan moved swiftly to deny any involvement.
"Pakistan has nothing to do with it," foreign office spokesman Tariq Altaf said.
"We have not been given any evidence, we have not been shown anything. They should have shared information with us, they should have come to us and said here are the names. But these people have another agenda."
According to Advani, the four hijackers' accomplices -- two Pakistanis, a Nepali and an Indian -- had been tracked down in Bombay after one of them tried to pass on a message from the hijackers to a televison correspondent in London.

As I understand, the Moslem hijackers had an accomplice who was a smuggler from Nepal. Perhaps Rajesh Gopal Verma is that person.

No. This Nepali had the name Yusuf Nepali. Therefore, the Nepali was also a Muslim-- another proof of brutalization of innocent people by Islam.

None of the hijackers was a Nepali or a Hindu. Please see this report in the TOI of 7 January 2000.

The whole scenario is a well orchestrated drama by the Pakistani government. A question kept bugging me since the day of the hijack. How do the hijackers able to get that amount of rifles and grenades? My answer is simple, there were loaded at Lahore Airport.

The hijackers were speachless at Amristar, they have not communicated with Indian authorities except demanding for take off or they will blow the plane. That promted Indian authorities to release the plane. They blind folded all passengers upon hijacking.

Now, the question is what happened in Lahore? I got a strong indication that the hijackers collected all their grenades and arms at Lahore airport. All passengers were blind folded throughout the flight. None knows what happened in transit airports. Furthermore they killed a passenger by stabbing just for peeping. Why they never shoot at the passenger if they are carrying arms?

This amazes me and I believe that the hijackers were only with knife and toy rifles at the point of hijacking. Their supplies got through at Lahore airport.

This shows that their landing at Lahore is just to collect grenades and arms. They could have fled direct to Dubai without landing at Lahore. Their insistance on landing at Lahore is simply to collect arms. The Indian authorities have to study thiese phase of events stringently.
