i am sorry that i too did not realise that the word
idol can be  offending until someone politely corrected
my other post on jagannatha. in my own vernacular lang
i definitely would not have used the equivalent of idol
but while shifting to english, i did not realise i was
committing  an error.

similarly, i feel very uncomfortable with the word
demi-god  i think i have live with it.
