SAN ANTONIO - An Indian-born man accused of killing the Mexican woman who
married his son goes on trial today, with prosecutors planning to argue it
was a hate crime [name] is accused of fatally shooting his
daughter-in-law, [name] in July 1995 out of prejudice against anyone not
Hindu. If convicted of murder under the Texas hat crime statute, it would
stiffen the possible life sentence by barring probation.
