I am a college student doing a research paper about the practice of 
Sati.  From what I've read, it seems that this tradition does not come 
out of the Hindu religion, and that it is almost inexistent at 
present.  What I'm wondering is where DOES it originate from and also, 
is it true that it is inexistent, and how did it become so?  Also, 
where can I get more information on this subject?  Thanks, JW
