pashu, pati and pasam may not be pure tamizh words. The
corresponding pure words are uyir, iRai and taLai.
pashu = uyir
pati = iRai
paasham = taLai
uyir denotes the jiivaa. I think sanskrit pashu denotes animal
in general and in this context taken as jiivaa.
taLai means bondage ( paasham also means the same) and iRai means
God or lord, which is the root word for iRaivan. Sanskrit pati
also means lord, like shriipati. I have a book called
"tiruvaintezhuttu" it uses the terminology uyir, iRai and taLai.
But major saiva siddhaanta works like tirumantiram use a lot of
saMskR^itam words in general. But at some level I get really
confused whether samskR^itaM borrowed words from tamizh and
sanskritized it, I believe it is very likely.
