Re: Cremation vs. Burial
Common Hindu people are cremated. Cremation is supposed to symbolise the
breaking of the material bonds that hold the eternal Jiva atma to the
flesh. Sanyasis (people in the final ashram of life) are typically
buried because these people are supposed to have mastered their
senses even in their present human form that the jiva atma leaves the
body through their skull (Kabala moksha).
