Following comments are recived from Prabhu Ambatapudi: **************************************************** The Global Vision 2000 program in Washington DC, organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, was a grand and wonderful event, and will certainly be a memorable part of my life. It was heartwarming to see so many Hindus coming together to commemorate the message and life of Swami Vivekananda, and to give some meaning to this hectic human existence in terms of the Vedantic context of his teachings. Needless to say, for such a large program and being the first time for VHP to organize such a big program in the USA, there were some logistical problems with food and registration. But in the true spirit of 'Karmanyeva adhikaarasthe maa phaaleshu kadaachana', most of the people adjusted to any of the incon- viniences to put their mind and effort in participating, experiencing, and making the program a success. The cultural program on Saturday at the Capital Centre was an event to behold. Wonderful stage settings, sound management, large color television screens for viewing comfort, etc. made this segment a smashing success. The quality of speeches by the various dharmacharyas and sants who graced the occasion really gave the people a multi-faceted view of the Vedantic vision of this great mahatma Swami Vivekananda. When some problems arose regarding food distribution, it was wonderful to see the youth volunteers coming together in the spirit of selfless service to layout a smooth plan and execute an efficient food distribution. The lecture seminar sessions both in the Global Youth Conference and the main conference on Sunday were excellent and of very engaging and serious quality. The presence and eloquence of many of the adhikaris of the Sangh family and others, made the lectures so much more uplifting. There was a wonderful exhibition and book stall room. Inspiring paintings, drawings by youth, wonderful works of art and devotion dedicated to Swamiji, a great variety of books and audio cassettes for purchase that were dedicated to our Hindu dharma, were all part of this festive atmosphere. It was so pathetic and disgusting to hear of the myriad attempts and tactics of this anti-Hindu group of 'secularists' parading around as Coalition for this and Coalition against that, trying to sabotage this program. From a poorly attended demonstration distributing a packet of lies and garbage , to attempts to introduce bugs into the computer registration systems, to some of these rashtra-drohis attempting to check into the hotel and harass the girls attending the youth conference, to contacting invited delegates and spreading lies and innuendo about VHP and others - never have I heard of such a puerile and pathetic segment of individuals who represent the complete anathema to Swami Vivekananda's teachings. Despite all their pre, and post attempts to denigrate this conference, they will fall flat on their faces as usual, as their negative, bigoted tactics can only lead to failure. When hearing about these sick people, I could only look around and see the wonderful environment of the conference, all the dedicated, humble, and selfless people I had met, and reiterate to my self and along with others, the great work that lay ahead for us given as a challenge by Swamiji, to bring our Bharat Mata to its Param Vaibhavam Sthithi and bring the enobling ideas of our Hindu Sanatana Dharma to the world. Let us now pull up our sleeves and truly make Swamiji's vision the global vision for the next century and beyond. Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Prabhu Ambatipudi prabhu@jplsar.jpl.nasa.gov
