Martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev : Guru Arjun's multifarious activities, apart from making a very major contribution to the organisation of the mission, demonstrate, as laid down by Guru Nanak, that no field of life, whether temporal, social or political, is excluded for the operation of a mystic. Slowly but surely the movement came out with a distinct identity of its own and with clear-cut religious- and sociopolitical facets.

Gayatri Jayanti : Gayatri Jayanti celebrates the manifestation of Goddess Gayatri, who is worshipped as Veda Mata (The Mother of Vedas). Scholars also indicate that Sage Vishwamitra first uttered the Gayatri Mantra on the Jyeshta Shukla Ekadasi day. And this day is observed as Gayatri Jayanti day. Goddess Gayatri is also referred as Adi Shakti by Gayatri Mata worshippers.

Nirjala Ekaadashi Vrat : Nirjala Ekadasi, also known as Pandava Ekadashi or Bhimasena Ekadashi is observed on the eleventh day during Jyeshta masa Shukla paksha. Nirjala Ekadashi or Bhimsani Ekadashi is considered to be most auspicious and beneficial day to observe Ekadashi Vrat.

Kashi Vishwanath Kalash Yatra (Kashi)

Sant Kabir Jayanti : Sant Kabir Jayanti is observed on the Purnima or full moon day in the month of Jyeshta (May – June) as per traditional calendar. It is believed that Sant Kabirdas was born on this day. The birth anniversary of Sant Kabir is observed in India and around the world. Meetings, satsangs, and recital of Sant Kabir’s poems are held on the day. In 2009, the date of Sant Kabir Jayanti is June 7.

Vat Savitri Vrat (South India) : Vat Savitri Vrat is an important fast (Vrat) observed by married women in certain parts of North India. The fasting is based on Savitri Satyavan legend in the Mahabharata. The Vrat is observed either during Amavasi (New moon) in the Hindu month of Jyestha or during Purnima (Full moon) in the month of Jyeshtha. In 2009, the date of Vat Savitri Vrat Amavasi is on May 24 and Vat Savitri Poornima is on June 7.

Guru Hargovind Jayanti : Guru Hargobind was born at Wadali village in June 1595 and was the only child of Guru Arjan Dev. He was invested with the Guruship on May 25, 1606 just days before his fathers martyrdom. From a young age he was educated in the sciences, sports and religion as his father had insisted. Baba Buddha was responsible for overseeing the Guru's religious teachings.

Mithun Sankraanti : Mithun Sankranti, also known as Aashadh Sankranti, marks the beginning of the Sun’s transition from Mithuna to Karka Rashi (from Gemini to Cancer). There are 12 Sankranthis in a Hindu Solar Calendar and Mithnu Sankranti is the last cycle in the Uttarayana period.

Sheetlashtami

Shivratri of the month : Most people must be aware of the Mahashivaratri but for hardcore Shiva devotees there is a Shivratri in each month. It happens on the ‘Krishna Paksha Chaturdasi’ of each lunar month. ‘Krishna Paksha’ is the dark fortnight of a lunar month.
